We have the privilege of being nominated as team leaders for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) 2023 Student Visionaries of the Year campaign. The campaign is a seven-week leadership development program that runs from February through March to raise money and awareness for LLS. We are writing today to ask for your support with our campaign and LLS’s mission to find a cure for blood cancer and improve the quality of life for patients and their families. 

Every three minutes, someone is diagnosed with blood cancer, which includes Leukemia, Lymphoma, Hodgkin’s, and Myeloma. LLS is the leader in advancing breakthroughs in blood cancer treatments. LLS is also committed to patient and family quality of life, providing free education as well as financial support to families facing a blood cancer diagnosis. 

We both have close connections to people affected by cancer. Ben’s great grandfather died of acute Lymphocytic Leukemia. Pierce watched one of his brother’s friends fight cancer in elementary school. Because of these close ties, we feel very strongly about this campaign.  Thankfully, due to research and access to better treatments, survival rates for many blood cancer patients have quadrupled since 1960. Our campaign will provide support to the critical work of LLS in hopes that one day no one will have to grow up without the ones they love. We know that with your help, we can reach our goal and make a direct impact in the fight against blood cancers.
